I wish to express gratitude for the many blessings received...

I wish to express gratitude for the many blessings received in my home through Christian Science. My husband and I have been helped mentally, morally, physically, financially, and spiritually. During our first two years in Science we were not so faithful as we should have been, because we did not understand the demands of this truth. I am indeed thankful to God that I have since then received a clearer understanding of this beautiful truth taught by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health.

My husband being generous and open-hearted had always made many friends, and from boyhood good fortune followed him, but he never realized whence his supply came. To mortal sense we were both happy with this material abundance. I was however jealous, haughty, and extravagant, and my husband became extravagant, intemperate, and self-indulgent, until error seemed to have a firm hold upon him. He forgot his happy home, his wife, and his many good friends, and found pleasures only in material ways. After having tried all material means to meet this error, as a last resort we went back to Christian Science.

Much patience was needed on the part of the practitioner, as erroneous suggestions found us often off guard and made us lose heart. It was only through listening to the voice that inspired us to do our best that we kept up our courage. Then trouble began in my husband's business, and lawsuits were threatening. This time error again led him to choose material means to drown his sorrow; but he soon remembered that all that God made and sustains is "good" and "very good," harmonious and eternal. He left the false friends and came home more humble than ever, ready to repent and to atone for his wrong doing.
