I would like to express my gratitude for the many blessings...
I would like to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. One of the wrong beliefs destroyed for me when first taking up the study of this teaching was the lack of strength to do my housework. When I began to study Christian Science the care of three small rooms was very burdensome and I was always tired. One day I picked up Science and Health and turned to page 385, where I observed a marginal heading which read, "Honest toil has no penalty." Just opposite was the statement, "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself." I did not read any farther, but studied those lines, and I could clearly see that all my life I had been believing a lie. I was instantly freed from that false belief and have been able to do any work presented to me with seldom any sense of fatigue. I now have a house of seven large rooms, take care of it myself, and have time to devote to others. I feel very grateful for the proof of Jesus' statement, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
We have had many proofs of the power of Truth in our home. God is our only physician, and I can truly say that divine Love meets every need. I am very grateful for all our literature, especially for the Lesson-Sermons. My little daughter, eleven years old, finds the study of the lesson each morning a great help in her school work. When any discord arises we have only to turn to the lesson and we always find the answer to our problem. She was healed of nasal growths through the truth she gained in the Sunday school. One day while out skating with a playmate she fell, striking the lower part of the spine on the cement walk, and a lady told her she had better go right home, as such falls were very serious. The child tried to deny the false law and continued to play for a short time, but the pain became so severe that she started home. When she reached the house she could hardly walk, her legs seeming to be stiff, and she could not sit down or rise without assistance. I was very busy, so told her to study the Lesson-Sermon through and then I would work with her if she needed any help. When about half through the lesson she came to a word she could not pronounce. Having recently bought a new self-pronouncing Bible for her, I told her to go into the other room and get it, for it would give her the correct pronunciation. In her joy at remembering she owned such a Bible, she ran into the room after it, and I saw at once that she was healed. When she came back she too had discovered the truth, and there was no further pain or stiffness.
For these physical healings I am grateful, but far more so for the better understanding of God, man, and of man's relationship to God. Christian Science is teaching me to love my neighbor as myself, and I am truly thankful to God and grateful to our revered Leader for even my slight understanding of it.—Anna L. Willis, Los Angeles, Cal.
