It is now several years since I turned to Christian Science for help. Previous to that time I was under medical treatment, but material remedies failed to do me any good, and I was growing worse all the time. According to the statement of physicians my trouble was with the heart and stomach, accompanied by nervous chills. Through Christian Science I have gained in weight, and my general health is so much improved that friends often comment upon it, telling me how well I am looking. My healing seemed to come slowly, the physical conditions improving as my thought improved.
My mother also has been greatly benefited through Christian Science; but while we are very grateful for the physical healing, we are more grateful for the better understanding of Truth and for the illumination of the Scriptures which Christian Science has brought us. Words but feebly express our thankfulness for this revelation of Truth. We realize that the only proper way to prove our gratitude for the blessings received is to strive to live this great Christ-teaching. We are indeed grateful that Mrs. Eddy labored so faithfully and unselfishly to lead mankind to accept the gospel taught by Christ Jesus, which in olden times healed both the sick and the sinful and today is repeating these works.—Mary Shafer, Covington, Ohio.
