The benefits I have received through the study and application...

The benefits I have received through the study and application of Christian Science are too numerous to mention. I did not turn to it for physical healing, although I had exhausted every means known to the medical profession and had been given up to die. I knew Christian Science to be a religion of cheerfulness, and sought it because it would enable me to keep cheerful and patient till the end came; but in five weeks from the time I began to study its teachings I was healed of asthma in a very aggravated form, also of the drug habit which had been acquired as the result of long periods of suffering, and was able to get up and do all the work in a ten-room house, including the washing, although a trained nurse as well as a maid had been in attendance on me.

Later I was healed of a growth on my arm and another on my leg. These did not respond to treatment so quickly as the former troubles. I had help from a loving practitioner for several weeks before I realized that I did not dread the wakeful night as usual, having determined to use it as an opportunity to get better acquainted with God; but lo! I slept all night for the first time in many months. When I awoke in the morning and rubbed my hand over the affected part, it scaled off, leaving the leg perfectly normal, and there has been no return of the trouble since. The healing of the arm came less quickly, but it too has been permanent.

These healing took place five years ago. Since then I have had the privilege of class instruction, and for this and for the unfolding of God's goodness and mercy that each day brings, also for our loving Leader and all that she has provided for our guidance, I am more than grateful.
