The beautiful prophecy of Isaiah, "A little child shall lead...

The beautiful prophecy of Isaiah, "A little child shall lead them," was brought to my thought very forcefully a few days ago when my daughter interrupted the reading of our Lesson-Sermon to ask: "Mother, why don't you write of my wonderful healing, so that other little children will hear about it?" In gratitude too deep for adequate expression I am therefore sending this testimony, hoping that other mothers who are perhaps facing discouragement, as I was, may read it and turn trustingly to the truth, whose healing waters flow freely for all.

From infancy my little girl suffered with most unusual attacks of illness, which left her weak and frail. By the time she had reached her fifth year these attacks became so frequent and, because of the high temperature and the delirium which accompanied them, so alarming, that we tried one doctor after another, but without apparent relief. Just after her sixth birthday a much interested physician assured us that the child was a victim of a certain form of poisoning and that we could not look for a cessation of the attacks of illness, which always came very suddenly. In despair we took her to a noted specialist, who examined her most carefully and then told us that she was suffering from acute kidney disease. Naturally we carried out every direction in regard to medicine and diet, but before long a most alarming illness left us without a shred of hope.

It was at this time that I began to listen to a dear friend who had long been trying to offer me Christian Science. Through the dark clouds of fear that struck terror to my heart, the rays of Truth came like a burst of light. Every material means tried had failed, doctor after doctor had contradicted his predecessor, so in my hour of need I turned with a weary hope to God. The trouble was conquered almost at once through the wise and loving guidance of a Christian Science practitioner. That was over two years ago. In the time that I have been studying Christian Science we have never thought of resorting to medicine, although minor ailments have tried to tempt us frequently. Today our little girl is rosy and well and happy, reminding us hourly that there is no power but God, good, and no reality in evil. Where at one time despair sat heavy on my heart, I now know no fear, for, as Mrs. Eddy lovingly assures us (Science and Health, p. 494), "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
