That Christian Science is both Christian and scientific is...

That Christian Science is both Christian and scientific is amply attested by reason of the fact that it is a revival of primitive Christianity. Its doctrines are based upon the teachings and works of Jesus the Wayshower as recorded in the Bible. That it is Christian is borne out by the fact that it is proving to the unbiased investigator that Jesus' promises are capable of present-day demonstration, are true, practical, and afford physical and moral healing in precisely the same way it was accomplished in the first three centuries of the Christian era. Whatever is scientific, as pertaining to God, must necessarily be invariable, orderly, and operate in accordance with law.

The healing of sickness, sin, and death by Jesus was in strict accord with the law of God and entirely divorced from human effort or means, for he declared that he came to do the will of the Father, and promised benighted humanity, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." That this was possible is attested by the healing of sickness and sin, and even the raising of the dead, for three hundred years following the crucifixion. Then, as the history of the world reads, this part of Jesus' ministry was no longer practised until Mrs. Eddy discovered the way in 1866.

The first four gospels of the New Testament set forth the life and works of Jesus. More space is devoted to his healing work than to any other thing, and even a causal reading of Mrs. Eddy's writings will show that the teachings of Christian Science are in strict accord with the Scriptures, and demand absolute and radical reliance thereon. Christian Science differs from other religious teachings because of its acceptance of the literal and whole commands of the Master to "preach the gospel" and "heal the sick."
