Jesus made much more of his works than does our critic,...

Madison (Wis.) Democrat

Jesus made much more of his works than does our critic, for when John sent unto him asking, "Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?" Jesus replied by recounting his works; and again, after his resurrection, he defined what it was to believe by stating: "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

There was a time, happily fading into distance, when a confession of faith or belief was practically all religion had to offer, until Mrs. Eddy discovered the spiritual thought actuating Christ Jesus, named her discovery "Christian Science," and in her divinely inspired text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," elucidated step by step the life and works of him who said, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." He who has turned from doctrines unfed, from material means unhealed, he who was "dead in trespasses and sins," finds in Mrs. Eddy's writings spiritual illumination which nourishes, renews, and heals both mind and body, making religion a matter of practice, not profession, as attested by thousands the world over. As Mrs. Eddy has said (Science and Health,p. 31), "It is the living Christ, the practical Truth, which makes Jesus the resurrection and the life' to all who follow him in deed."
