From Our Exchanges

[Pacific Christian Advocate]

When Peter and John, plain and simple men, stood before the Sanhedrin, learned and grave, they were not fearful, or cowed, or moved to apology: they were mighty men. They were not such by birth or training. ... "Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them." It was a the denying Peter, the man trembling and afraid; it was a man so filled with a new devotion that fear and untruth were crowded from his being. It was the tender and affectionate John, now endowed with a passion for one so absolutely complete that he too had but the single fear that he might not love enough. They were filled with God, and henceforth were to be naught but the exponents of the divine. Need we wonder that God is bold for His truth? Need we wonder that a man should be bold who is wholly filled with God?

Why are we not bold today? Because we have given to God only a fragmentary possession of ourselves. We have many sides; one touches God. We have many thoughts; some touch God. We have many actions; a few are guided by God.
