It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God, and also to Mrs. Eddy, that I send this testimony, in the hope that it will help some other seeker after Truth. I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, and for a few years failed to take the subject very seriously. Finally, however, I was compelled through physical need to do so. After undergoing an operation I was in as bad condition as before; but this is slowly but surely being overcome through a knowledge of the truth, and I am in better health, mentally and physically, than ever.
I used tobacco and occasionally liquor for several years, but these false appetites have been entirely destroyed. I also wore glasses. The oculist had told me that however much any doctor should advise to the contrary, I would be compelled to wear glasses for the rest of my life, and that my eyes should be refitted at least yearly. Through the study of Christian Science, however, I can now use my eyes as much as is necessary, without wearing glasses and with no ill effects. One demonstration that impressed me especially was the growth of a tooth. After having considerable trouble with a hollow molar, I had it extracted; but although the dentist told me he did not expect to get the tooth out without shattering it, it was removed in one attempt, and I suffered no pain. In less than one week a new tooth had forced its way through the gum, and it is now perfectly sound.
Several months ago, while working with some acid, a quantity got into my eyes. Momentarily I was blinded; but I immediately began to affirm the truth, and in a few minutes was able to open my eyes and resume work. Except for slight inflammation and sensitiveness there was no trace of the occurrence, and by the next morning these had entirely disappeared. For all these healings, and many others, I am deeply grateful, and for the spiritual uplift which has accompanied them my gratitude is beyond expression.
