In this my first testimony my humble prayer is that some materially bound and burdened consciousness, such as mine was before accepting Christian Science, will be illumined thereby and thus led to prove the power of Truth. For years I was like a ship without a rudder, a life without hope. I longed and prayed for death as a means to set at rest a materially tortured consciousness. Longing for something unseen, unknown, I was never satisfied unless traveling and filling my mentality with sights unseen before.

Notwithstanding I had a good home, a noble father, a brother, sisters, and a saintly mother, that incessant craving and unrest at last made me desperate; but my extremity proved to be God's opportunity, and two years ago the door that God "openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth," opened to me, and at last I was satisfied. I had found rest for my weary consciousness, and drank deeply of divine Love, Life, Truth, the peace that passeth understanding completely filling my thoughts for months. I bow my head in thankfulness while glorifying God's everlasting power and allness.

To the God-sustained woman who has made divine Truth understandable and available through her pure, spiritual receptivity and undaunted efforts throughout many years of self-denial, I feel sure we can best reflect our gratitude and love by daily living Christ Jesus' teachings; by affirming the allness of God, Truth, and denying error; by reflecting brotherly love, gentleness, kindness, reverence, and charity one to the other. The pure, uplifting thoughts extended to hungry humanity by the Christian Science literature and lectures are again feeding the multitudes as they were fed in the days of our Saviour.
