I realize that the time has come for me to express some of the gratitude I feel for the help Christian Science has been to our family. At first I was very dishonest over it. Though knowing Christian Science was the only thing that could help me, it looked as though I should have to give up various wrong desires which seemed to have an attraction for me, and I did not want to do so; but gradually the truth broke down my opposition, and consequently I have received untold blessings in the destruction of sin as well as of sickness.

I wish to tell of an experience we had when our boy, now nearly ten years of age, was a baby. When he was about seven months old and a big, sturdy child, one day I placed him in his perambulator outside the door for his afternoon nap, strapping him in, also putting up the hood as an extra protection. Somehow he wriggled out and fell head first on the tiles which edged the asphalt walk, crushing his head in just above the temple. He was not stunned by the fall but screamed loudly. At once we began to declare the truth for him, but when my husband brought the child up to me the appearance was very terrifying, so he at once went to find a Christian Science practitioner. At that time the nearest one lived half an hour's journey from us, but my companion, who was a Christian Scientist, and I worked and read aloud to each other.

We did not look at the child again, but I just held him with his face against my shoulder. He soon became quiet and in about half an hour suddenly started to chuckle at his reflection in the mirror behind. We then looked at him and found the depression on the head, which had been quite deep, was only half as deep, and when my husband got back about half an hour later the place was almost normal. All the broken skin healed over that night, and in six days no mark was left which an ordinary observer would notice. There was never any inflammation, no bruise or discoloration.
