In March, 1908, I had all my arrangements made for undergoing a slight operation, when a friend talked to me of Christian Science. At first I said that as the doctors were engaged I could not very well change, but finally found myself going to visit a Christian Science practitioner at the very hour the operation was to have been performed. I thank God that I listened, and I trust the voice of Truth may come to every one as it did to me. I could not understand what was meant by the Biblical phrase uttered by our great Master, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." How one could be born again seemed strange to me, but I rejoice that now, after six years of study and trials, I comprehend its meaning from the spiritual standpoint.
I was told by a noted nerve specialist in this city that I would have to take medicine all my life, and that I would require medical attention periodically to keep me in good health, as I had had three severe attacks of nervous prostration, twice having to be sent away to a sanitarium. I have been changed from a nervous, discontented girl to a healthy, happy Christian Scientist, striving each day to be of some benefit to mankind, praying for that Mind to be in me "which was also in Christ Jesus." Having been born and reared in the Jewish faith, I feared the mere mention of the name Jesus, and why I did not know; but now I realize that our Master was the greatest exponent of Love the world has ever known, and I thank God hourly and daily for this blessed truth of Christian Science, which was given to us so lovingly and untiringly by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
Words seem inadequate to express all I would like to say. I have been entirely healed of many physical ailments, but the loving thoughts and the spiritual understanding which I have received from this saving truth are far more significant to me. I have learned that the only way to thank God is by thinking good, and am daily striving to let my light so shine that I may glorify our Father which is in heaven.
