No Loss in Mind

Christian Science teaches us that no good thing is ever lost, and that this truth can be applied even in our temporal experience. One day, a few years ago, I missed a valuable ring, and at once began a systematic search of my room, but found no trace of it. At the time I was living in a hotel, and the thought came to me that some one might have taken the ring; but I soon realized it was error to suspect any one in this way. I then sat down and, bowing my head in silent prayer, tried to realize the truth about God and man; that God is ever present Mind; that man in His image reflects all knowledge; and that in this perfect Mind, in which "we live, and move, and have our being," there can be nothing lost.

As I dwelt upon this line of thought I was impelled to go and look behind a trunk which was in a closet connected with my room. The closet was quite dark, but I reached over behind the trunk and placed my fingers directly upon the ring. Any one who has had a similar experience will know the sense of gratitude and joy which comes with any least awakening to the truth of God's ever-presence and loving care for the children of men. I am truly thankful to God for the understanding of Truth which shows us how to trust and what to do in those times of need, when without this realization we should be sorely troubled and perchance create an atmosphere which is distressing to all about us.
