It is a happy privilege as well as duty to acknowledge the many wonderful blessings I have received in Christian Science. In September, 1909, I applied to a practitioner for treatment, being in great distress physically and mentally. I had some knowledge of the healing work of Christian Science but was not willing to give up material remedies entirely,—not until after a very distressing hospital experience, with little or no relief, soon followed by alarming conditions that had not appeared previous to the operation.

With the first treatment in Christian Science my relief was so pronounced that I was convinced it was the truth which Jesus said should make us free. During the following three months many serious ailments vanished, among them being what the physicians called an abnormal condition of the kidneys, chronic appendicitis, and nervous breakdown. No hope had been held out for me unless I submitted to another operation, but the operation of Truth and Love did the healing work, the least of which was the overcoming of physical ills; for I soon learned that it was fear, self-pity, ingratitude, faultfinding, and many similar errors of which I needed to be healed, and in the measure that I was willing to give up the old way and be renewed in Spirit the healing was made manifest.

There is not a day that I am not profoundly grateful for my understanding, though as yet limited, of this truth that does indeed make free and is always a "very present help." My healing has been permanent, and Christian Science has been my only remedy for discord of every nature since I turned to it for help. I am grateful for the increased understanding of and love for the Scriptures since studying Science and Health, and I could tell of many other wonderful blessings received. My gratitude is boundless to God, as well as to Christ Jesus the Wayshower, and I am also deeply grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who was spiritual enough to receive God's message of love and give it to us in a demonstrable way, as taught in our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."—Lyda McKenna, Chicago, Ill.
