When I was under fourteen years of age my aunt passed...

When I was under fourteen years of age my aunt passed away, leaving my uncle with a family of seven children, the youngest less than a year old and the oldest not twelve. Another uncle also made his home with him, and I did the housework most of the time in this family of nine, besides myself, for over three years.

When I left this work I felt a stinging pain or ache in the muscle which extends from the neck to the shoulder, for it had been overtaxed. The pain was sometimes excruciating, and I suffered from it for about twenty years. In the mean time I established a good business in dressmaking, but had to abandon it on account of my shoulder. Then I began to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. My healing was slow, as the injury seemed very real to me, but it has been permanent. I am very thankful for the spiritual uplift and the true light.
