As a result of measles, with which I was taken ill at the age of four, I retained an ear trouble,—at least, this was the physician's opinion. I suffered from this ailment for several years; then I ceased to experience distress, and it was believed I had gotten rid of it. Later, when I began to go to school, it was observed by my parents as well as by my teachers that I read at a very close range. My parents took me to several noted specialists, who all declared that this near-sightedness could not be remedied. Moreover, in their opinion my vision would deteriorate steadily till the worst might be expected. It goes without saying that I had to wear glasses.
In the summer of 1914 I had a sudden return of my former ear trouble, and it was then that my mother told me of Christian Science, to which her attention had recently been called. We immediately talked matters over with a Christian Science practitioner and availed ourselves of her help. After a short time the pain in my ears ceased, I was able to discard my glasses, and after a few months, during which I had made a diligent study of the teachings of Christian Science, my eyes were completely healed. For this I thank God from the depths of my heart, and am most grateful to our revered Leader for the benefits and blessings which I have experienced through Christian Science.
