Some people have formed the opinion that Christian Science is "merely a system of bodily healing." Christian Science places emphasis on healing the sick, it is true, and we find that the Scriptural record of the great Master and his early followers does the same thing, while secular history records such healing as among the works of the early Christians. No one would attempt to prove, however, that the mission of Christ Jesus was to heal sickness, nor was it the mission of the apostles and the early church, but rather we find the healing of sickness to be one of the "signs" which follow the destruction of sin. Healing in Christian Science results now as it did with the great Teacher and his first disciples,—it is one of the "signs following."

It will be seen, then, that Christian Science is primarily engaged in the destruction of sin, and this is shown among all classes of people and in every community through the purer lives and higher citizenship of its adherents. It is also true that physical healing in Christian Science could not be accomplished without moral and spiritual betterment.
