With heartfelt gratitude I send my testimony of what...
With heartfelt gratitude I send my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me in the six years I have been studying it. I became interested in this teaching through the healing of a brother. It appealed to me most because of the concept of God it taught,—a God who truly is Love, who does not send sickness or sin, but is an ever present help in trouble. I have had many opportunities to prove that divine Love is indeed ever at hand, and when the truth has been honestly applied, my needs have been quickly met.
My first healing was quite a surprise to me. I was not thinking of physical benefits, but after studying for a short time was relieved of intense headache and backache from which I had suffered a great deal, and they have never returned. The greater good that has come to me, however, is the spiritual uplift,—the different outlook on life, the faults overcome, such as quick temper, sarcastic tongue, proneness to criticize and say unkind things, a feeling of discontent, and an unsatisfied longing for peace and happiness. My heart overflows today because this longing for peace and joy has been satisfied and happiness realized through the teachings of Mrs. Eddy. Nothing can long disturb me, for I know that God, good, is all there really is. The daily study of the Lesson-Sermon keeps me mentally awake and ready to overcome the many annoyances which come to tempt mankind.
The Christian Science publications are a great help. Many times I have been helped over difficulties at a needed time through the reading of some article. The privilege of using a reading-room where all the writings of Mrs. Eddy and other Christian Science literature is available, has meant much to me. Many business, financial, and family problems have been solved in the peace and quiet of the reading-room. With but two or three exceptions I have been able to work out my problems without the help of a practitioner. At one time, however, the mental suffering was such that I could not see the light clearly myself and had to call on a practitioner, whereupon harmony was quickly restored. I am indeed grateful for all the good that has come into my life, and my daily prayer is that my life may attest my sincerity as well as my thankfulness to God and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy.—
