The testimonies in our periodicals have always meant much to me, and that fact, together with sincere gratitude to God for the many blessings received since I first learned of Christian Science nine years ago, leads me to write of some of the benefits which have come to me and mine during these years. We did not come into Science for physical healing, although the one through whom we became interested in it was healed of a sickness of long standing. Strangely enough, this did not impress me at the time, but the transformation in disposition was to me a marvel. Many times prior to her healing I had gone away from her thinking I could never be in her presence again to endure the criticism and faultfinding with which I was nearly overwhelmed.

My first physical help came some three months after beginning to study the Christian Science literature, when a most aggravated attack of a chronic trouble from which I had suffered for eighteen years set in. It did not occur to me to apply this healing truth which I had been studying; it remained for my husband to recommend it to me, and my feeling of despair when he did so will never be forgotten. After absent treatment had been given me for two weeks, the practitioner wrote that the healing was accomplished, but she was requested to keep on treating me, as I wanted to know more of all the good that was coming to me; so she gave me another week's treatment. What she had written at the end of the two weeks, however, proved to be true, for not only was I healed of my immediate illness, but never since then has there been any suffering from severe backache, which had been a source of misery to me for many years. Physicians had said it resulted from an unusually severe attack of spinal meningitis in my girlhood and would never leave me. At the same time our entire family were healed of throat trouble, attacks of which had occurred regularly every spring and fall.

During the years of freedom from the above mentioned conditions many other discomforting things have come into our family, but every one of them has been overcome with the understanding given us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. No words can express my gratitude for the enlightenment which has come to me through the study of this book, and every day I love more and more to study it. It certainly contains the "pearl of great price" which a man seeing will go and sell all that he has to purchase it. Mrs. Eddy says on page 1 of our text-book, "No loss can occur from trusting God with our desires," and more clearly each day the truth of these words comes to me. I know that as I trust God with my desire to know more of Him and of His reflection, man, I shall give the best expression of my gratitude for all that Christian Science has brought into my life and the life of the whole world. I would not like to think what our home would be without this "light" which has come and which shines through all the dark places, so that we are seeing more clearly the path which is leading us "unto the perfect day."
