In September, 1914, I first experienced the healing power...
In September, 1914, I first experienced the healing power of Christian Science, and as my healing has stood the test of time and I have not had the slightest recurrence of my former ill health, I am most anxious to express my gratitude. For two years I had been under the constant care of various physicians, including my uncle, for what was diagnosed by them as neurasthenia, a condition of constant morbidness and melancholy. I rapidly grew worse and was finally told they could do nothing for me, that unless I pulled myself together I would lose my reason. Shortly afterward a friend recommended that I try Christian Science. At first I was too skeptical and biased to consider it, but finally decided that although it probably would not do me any good, at least it could not harm me. I visited a practitioner the next day, and am unspeakably grateful for the help received, as I was completely healed in seven or eight treatments.
I have heard several people express the belief that Christian Science may be efficacious in cases of nervous diseases but they doubted its power to heal physical troubles. I should therefore like to tell of two physical healings. For three years I had suffered from what is known as fallen arches and had worn a specially made braced shoe. I had often tried during that time to wear an ordinary shoe, but was seemingly unsuccessful. Since trying Christian Science I can wear any kind of shoe, and walk as far as I wish, without experiencing discomfort. A throat affection was overcome in twenty-four hours.
I am most thankful for these healings, as well as for the many other blessings experienced through Christian Science, but my deepest gratitude is for the peace and harmony which has come into my life and thought and for the knowledge that the divine Principle is always available to help and sustain us.—
