It is with deep gratitude and joy that I try to tell a little of what Christian Science has done for me during the last five years. Before coming into Christian Science I never knew what it was to feel really well, as headaches and rheumatism were a source of constant suffering; but these disappeared without treatment. For fifteen years spectacles were used for short-sightedness, and the oculist told me they would always have to be worn. With the help of a Christian Science practitioner, however, after about three and a half months they were laid aside. I can now see better without glasses than ever was possible with them, and the work which I took up three years ago, that of miniature painting, does not try my eyes in the least.
I am grateful for the physical healing, but words fail to express my gratitude for the mental healing and spiritual uplift. Formerly I was in bondage to the awful thoughts that would come to me, and the battle to keep them away would leave me physically exhausted. While the Bible, to which I turned for help, comforted me, I did not understand it sufficiently to overcome these discordant thoughts. Since the study of Christian Science was taken up all is changed; there is peace and joy in the place of darkness and despair.
I give thanks to God for all my blessings, and am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her loving work, and to all who have lovingly and patiently helped me to understand the truth.
