Words cannot express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me and my family. I had been leaning on materia medica most of the time for eight years, for I suffered from almost every ill that "flesh is heir to." I had headaches which at times were so severe that I would be unconscious for two or three hours. I also suffered from spinal and bladder troubles, bowel disorder, and nervousness in its worst form; and some said that there was a growth on the brain. I had been treated by almost all the doctors in our home town and had consulted some of the best specialists in the state; I had been to three different hospitals and had submitted to one operation. A short time before I decided to try Christian Science I was at a hospital, but was getting so discouraged with life there that I wanted to come home; therefore with the consent of the doctor I did so, after promising to follow his directions. Nothing did me any good, however, so in the fall of 1912, when a cousin was visiting me from Hamilton, Ohio, I talked with her about Christian Science. She insisted that I should go home with her and see a practitioner, and I am thankful that I went.

On Sunday evening my cousin and I attended the Christian Science church, and almost the first thing I noticed was the quotation on the wall: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). This I proved true. There were only two people present when we arrived, one of whom was a practitioner. I told her of some of the ills from which I suffered, and as I always had intense pain whenever I went to church, I asked if I could leave the room if necessary. She said I would not need to do so, and I did not, for I felt no ill effects and enjoyed the meeting. I therefore made arrangements with the practitioner for treatment, and within a week I was perfectly healed and came home rejoicing. I had been obliged to wear glasses off and on all my life, but when I was healed everything yielded, and I have not worn them since.

I also want to state that one day when our boy was working in the woods, he was stung by a bee. When he reached the house, the swelling was so great that he could hardly be recognized. The practitioner above mentioned was visiting us at the time, so the boy asked for help in Christian Science and was entirely healed within a short while. I could tell of many other demonstrations.
