I am indeed grateful for all that Christian Science has...
I am indeed grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me. It has been my daily help ever since I was quite a little boy up to the present time. I am engaged in the works of a firm of electrical engineers, and one afternoon, while taking out the bushes of a bearing on a very large casting, the latter slipped and fell on my foot. A man who was working beside me, seeing what had happened, ran down the works for assistance, and with the help of two other men lifted the casting, and so released me. The pain was intense, but I knew that nothing could injure God's child, for He is always with us and protecting us. The men took off my boot and sock, but were astonished to find nothing more than a slight mark where the casting had struck, for they expected to find that the heavy weight had crushed the foot.
I started home after this, and on leaving the tram, walked a mile and a half to the house without feeling any pain or stiffness. The next morning, much to the surprise of the men who so kindly helped me on the previous day, I went to work, and thought no more about the accident until they asked me how my foot was. This brought to mind our Leader's words, "Accidents are unknown to God" (Science and Health, p. 424), and surely "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
About six months before leaving school I noticed that my sight was not perfect, and I could not read what was on the blackboard. The medical examiner told me that my eyes were in bad condition, and I must have glasses at once. I was accordingly taken to an oculist to have my sight tested. A Christian Science practitioner gave me one treatment, and when the glasses were received from the optician I found that I had no need to wear them at all, as I could see better without them. I have had normal sight ever since. These experiences showed me how Christ, Truth, and the healing power is always with us.
