Our little boy was born in October, 1909, and we are more...
Our little boy was born in October, 1909, and we are more than grateful to Christian Science, for had we not known of the truth at that time we feel that he would not be with us today. Five years before this a little one was still-born at eight months, and for weeks my life was despaired of. Indeed, I was in a most serious condition. For three years I suffered with bladder, kidney, and female troubles. Then physicians advised an operation, one saying that he could not assure me of ever being perfectly well. While in this state of discouragement and despair, I asked for help in Christian Science. In three weeks I was much improved, but I continued to have frequent attacks of the bladder trouble. I cannot say just when these disappeared, but I began to build up both mentally and physically.
Before the birth of our little boy I went regularly for instruction and help in Christian Science. I studied and read faithfully, and continued in perfect health, with not one sick moment. I did my own housework, and was happier and more contented than I had ever been before, having that spiritual uplift which comes from knowing there is only one power, God, good, and that man in God's image and likeness is perfect. At eight months the same symptoms appeared that caused the premature birth before. There was great suffering, and every indication that labor was at hand. The practitioner stayed with me almost constantly for three days and nights, and her knowledge of the truth that God is our sure deliverer, healed me. In five days I was up and about my usual duties as before, perfectly well and strong, and rejoicing in the lesson we all had learned.
Four weeks from this date the little boy was born with no assistance whatever from the doctor, and practically no pain. The physician made the statement that it was the most normal birth he had seen in fifteen years' practice. I was up and dressed part of the next day, and in less than a week I was taking care of the baby. I have been perfectly well since then, and am deeply grateful to be free from all the effects from which I suffered in my first experience. This little boy is now five years old, and is well and strong. He has never tasted medicine, and the few ailments he has had have been overcome almost instantaneously with the truth.
