Several years ago I was a great sufferer, and had been for a year. I spent a large amount of money for medicine, medical treatment, and other material means, only to find myself steadily growing worse and face to face with an operation. A skilled surgeon told me that a mass of cysts had formed on an internal organ, and I was unable to sleep in a natural position. Every night my sleep was broken, and I was a nervous wreck.

Upon the advice of an uncle living in the West, and of a friend who had been healed through Christian Science, I sought a practitioner; and words can scarcely convey an idea of the spiritual uplift, the courage and strength, which that first Christian Science treatment imparted to me. One by one the troubles left me,—the growth, a displacement, and a chronic bowel disorder, as well as hatred, resentment, sensitiveness, and many of the other things that "worketh abomination, or maketh a lie." The healing was accomplished in less than three months.

Now comes a part about which I am reluctant to write. Up to the time my health gave way I was an earnest church worker, and I was advised by my pastor, when he learned of my healing through Christian Science, to consult with one who had been healed through Science but was not a Scientist. I should have known that this was error, but I went and talked with the lady, with the result that I became interested in a form of mental science. The inducement held out to me was that it was easier to comprehend and "just like Christian Science."
