Recently it occurred to me that I must add my offering of praise for the knowledge and proof of God's love which I have obtained. I came to Christian Science for healing, after receiving very little benefit from operations which doctors said would restore my health. From the first I felt this teaching to be the truth, and through the help of a practitioner I immediately received great benefit. There is still much to be overcome, but I am learning that as I clear my consciousness of all discord, the truth shines more clearly, so I am sure that soon I will be able to record complete freedom. I wish now to testify to a wonderful and instantaneous healing which has given me great encouragement.
One evening I was suffering from a severe headache, which I tried to relieve through my understanding of Christian Science. I had been treating myself for some time, but the more I worked, the more severe the headache seemed to grow. Finally I grew tired, and said unthinkingly, "Thy will be done," for it seemed at that moment as if it must be God's will for me to suffer so; but quickly the clear realization came to me that it was not God's will, and with the last thought the headache suddenly vanished. My heart was filled with a great joy, not alone on account of the healing, but for this proof of God's nearness to me. Had the headache diminished gradually, I might not have thought it so wonderful, but to have it disappear instantly, when at its worst, was to me a wondrous proof of God's power and love.
In our family, stomach and bowel troubles, measles, colds, and various other ills have been healed through Christian Science, and all the benefits received by myself or family have been permanent. I have everything to be grateful for, and owe it all to Christian Science. Before coming to Christian Science I had about lost all hope, and I took it up as a last resort, feeling that if it did not help me there was nothing else to turn to. I am thankful to say that almost every phase connected with my illness has been healed by the truth, although I am still working to overcome one or two discordant conditions which seem to cling.
