It is several years since I learned what Christian Science teaches, and I am deeply grateful for the blessings I have received from this wonderful revelation of Truth, especially for the better understanding of God. Through Christian Science as explained by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health, the whole aspect of life is changed, and instead of gloomy forebodings of evil, we realize God as ever present, and this consciousness makes our safety very real.

I was prejudiced for a long time against Christian Science, owing to a misconception. I had read pamphlets and arguments against this teaching, and looking at it from a material standpoint, I thought they had right on their side. Then I saw a letter in a newspaper, written by a Scientist, at the close of which she stated that it was a singular fact that those who were most opposed to Christian Science were those who knew nothing about it. I included myself in that list, and thought it only fair to know what Christian Scientists believed before condemning, so I wrote inquiring for information. A reply came, directing me to get a copy of Science and Health from the loan library. This I did, and on reading the book I felt convinced it was the truth, so I asked for help in Christian Science.

I had been an invalid for over six years, and for nearly three had suffered from paralysis. I was unable to move without the aid of crutches, and had to be carried in a chair up and down stairs. Before I read Science and Health I felt my strength failing, and I could not have continued the struggle much longer, as the weakness was extending to my neck. The practitioner came on Monday, Nov. 29, 1909. Her explanations convinced me of the truth of this teaching, and her kindness and patience were most helpful. For two days there was a fierce conflict between the flesh and the spirit, and on Wednesday I saw clearly that as the child of God I had a right to all good. On Thursday I sat up all day without support, and on Friday I moved my leg in bed, but did not speak of it until the next morning, when I told the members of the household, and they were greatly rejoiced. The foot was still limp, and as I rose after lunch and was on my crutches, I felt my weight on the heel but could not move the foot. I thought that as it had taken one day to heal the leg, it might require another to heal the foot.
