Very early in life I became a church-member, but I could...

Very early in life I became a church-member, but I could never understand God, being taught to fear rather than to love Him, and to prepare for happiness at some future time rather than to realize it now. I did not come to Christian Science for healing, but gained my first knowledge of it by reading to one who did need physical help. Nevertheless I have been healed of many minor ills, and at one time a very severe cold disappeared almost instantly. Since then I have used no material remedies, finding that divine help is sufficient.

Of the many things for which I am thankful, the understanding of God as an ever present help in human need is the greatest. I am grateful for the knowledge I have gained of this great truth, and realize that I can show my gratitude only as I live according to the example left by Christ Jesus. Through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have gained some understanding of how to follow him. I am thankful for all our Christian Science literature; it is my daily food. Without the help of Christian Science my life would indeed be empty, and I fully recommend this teaching to any one in need.
