San Diego (Cal.) Union

Among the books recommended by Evangelist — in a recent issue of the Union, he names one which "deals with the mind, the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the superconscious mind." "It gives," he says, "one of the most concise answers to Christian Science that I have ever read, in such a fair way that no Scientist can object, and in such a safe and sound way that none can answer him." With due appreciation of this gentleman's evident desire to be fair in his own statements, it should be remembered that the socalled "conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the superconscious mind" are but conditions or states of the mortal or carnal mind which Paul describes as "enmity against God." It is obvious, then, that any treatise dealing with such questions, can offer no explanation of Christian Science, which deals solely with God and man's relationship to Him.

Paul said, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus," and in the degree that the Christian Scientist attains this spiritual state is he enabled to perform the works Jesus said his followers should do. Christian Science needs no other "answer," and the thinking world is evidently fast becoming more and more satisfied with it.
