It is now two and a half years since I first learned of Christian Science through a neighbor who had been wonderfully healed by its treatment. At that time our little girl, an only child, was suffering from bowel disorder, for which we were continually administering drugs. She had also undergone an operation for nasal growths, and the attending surgeon had told me that she would have to endure another and possibly two more similar operations. I told my neighbor these things, and he said, "You read the first and second chapters of Genesis, and learn your birthright."
After that I quit giving my child material remedies and determined to trust God, with the result that she was perfectly healed, and has never had the other predicted operation or any return of the troubles. Under Christian Science treatment she was also healed of diphtheria in its worst form. The third day after the practitioner was called the fever broke; the fourth day she sat up in bed and played with her toys; and the fifth day she went out to the table for her dinner. This was on Sunday. On Wednesday evening I went to meeting through a terrific storm to give thanks to God for His love and power demonstrated to us. At another time my daughter suffered a fall, which resulted in concussion of the brain. Her father evinced much fear and hurried for a doctor; but the child refused to take the medicine which the physician prescribed, and the same neighbor that had interested me in Christian Science, told me that now was a favorable opportunity to prove the efficacy of Truth's healing power. A practitioner was called, and in fifteen minutes the child was sleeping normally. When she awoke, she sprang up in her crib and with a laugh said, "There is nothing the matter with me, mama."
When I took up the study of Christian Science I was abnormally fleshy and was growing more so. I also had five abnormal growths, and hemorrhoids which my physician pronounced incurable without an operation; but under Christian Science treatment I was made perfectly whole without the aid of surgery, and have remained so.
