During the past six years we have thoroughly tested the healing power of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. To be well and happy, strong enough to help others and to keep so day after day, has seemed in my case sufficient proof that Christian Science does all that Mrs. Eddy claimed for it. All my life I had lived in bondage to the belief that I had inherited a frail constitution. In the study of Christian Science I gradually awakened to a perception of the "inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled," and a great burden of fear has been removed, for which my gratitude is beyond expression.

Recently I experienced what seemed to be a very serious case of infection, supposed to be caused from not protecting a slight cut on the finger while nursing my father during a protracted illness. I was away from my own home and surrounded by relatives and friends who were not at all in sympathy with Christian Science, and who did not approve of leaving to it what seemed to them such a serious condition. The healing was accomplished by absent treatment, the practitioner being five hundred miles away. Even when the finger was swollen to more than twice its normal size, there was almost no pain. The thought came that in order to avoid serious results the finger should be lanced, but thanks to a testimony heard many months before, I was able to see plainly that no hand had produced the condition and no hand was required to remove it. Only a process of true thinking could possibly remove discord which was entirely the result of false belief.

The finger opened twice of its own accord, and at the end of two weeks much of the old discolored skin had peeled off, revealing the perfectly healed finger beneath, with absolutely no sign of a scar. I had kept it covered in order to avoid attracting attention, and continued to do so until all of the discolored skin was gone. My husband and I really took the healing for granted, as we had become so accustomed to the sure results of Christian Science treatment; but we have been aroused to a keener sense of appreciation of this particular healing since learning of the experience of a relative who at the same time, and with apparently the same trouble, suffered many weeks of agonizing pain under the care of two excellent surgeons, having had the finger lanced four times and finally amputated. As we realize what we have been spared we exclaim with the psalmist, "Who is so great a God as our God?"
