I have long wished to express my gratitude to God, also my thankfulness to Mrs. Eddy for all the benefits I have received through Christian Science. To those suffering from disappointment and despair as I was when this healing truth found me, I can safely say, There is no case, however hopeless it may seem, that cannot be saved and healed through Christian Science. It is now nearly three years since I began the study in earnest, although I had had a copy of the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," a long time previous to that; but while I thought it was the truth, I could hardly understand it until divine Love sent me a practitioner. I shall never forget how hard she worked through the long dark hours to awaken me from my fears and false beliefs, always faithfully pointing me to divine Principle, God, until I began to get a faint gleam, and since then I have had many demonstrations.

I have had, and still have, much to overcome, but I am thankful for the understanding which enables me to begin to see the nothingness of error and the allness of God, good, for the inspiring truth that destroys all fear in bringing up our children in God's loving care, and for the spiritual uplift I have experienced. Since writing the foregoing I have had the great pleasure of listening to a lecture on Christian Science delivered in Seattle, and of attending the services there, also of hearing two lectures and attending the services here in San Francisco. Words cannot express my joy, and my gratitude to God for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. My healing has been wonderful, for I am sure that I would have died but for the power of Truth. The physical healing, however, is of small importance in comparison with the wonderful regeneration, the changed mentality. Irritability, pride, selfishness, have been overcome to a great extent, besides sinful habits, and in place of revenge I have learned that "Love is the liberator" (Science and Health, p. 225).

That Christian Science is a practical religion I have proved in countless ways, both in business and in daily life, and I have also proved its efficacy in healing our animals while living in Alaska. Serious ills were successfully met, not by any material means, but through the realization of the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words in Science and Health (p. 550), "God is the Life, or intelligence, which forms and preserves the individuality and identity of animals as well as of men." One case of distemper had reached a serious stage, to all appearances, before I had noticed it, but the animal was healed in one day.
