I herewith wish to express my gratitude for the wonderful...
I herewith wish to express my gratitude for the wonderful healing which I have experienced through Christian Science. Over three years ago I was daily seized with severe pain in the stomach and was nauseated after every meal. This condition lasted for two years, and during that period two physicians whom I consulted agreed in stating that I was extremely anemic. One evening, upon experiencing great suffering, I had a hemorrhage, which, to sense, made me feel extremely weak. The physician said that an abscess had opened in the stomach. I then had treatment from a physician of high repute and was greatly relieved; but although I followed all the prescriptions closely, severe pain would set in almost every day. The physician believed my system to be entirely shattered, and later on prescribed drugs, which, however, often failed to have any effect or else relieved me only for a short time. The continuous pain and slight hope of recovery added to my distress, and I sometimes felt very much discouraged, and even in a desperate mood, which often made life cease to appear desirable.
It was during that time of hopelessness that I heard of Christian Science. After reading several copies of the Herold, quite a few things became clear to me which had been a puzzle formerly, and I began to experience new courage and a sense of hope regarding possible deliverance from my suffering. A Christian Science practitioner gave me several treatments, and now I am free from all the troubles mentioned, and enjoy a sense of well-being and a happiness such as I have not experienced for a long time. I am daily apprehending better the never-ending love and goodness of God.
Of late I have had to attend to many professional duties which could not be termed exactly agreeable, but I gained strength for their performance by reading in the Bible and in Science and Health in the morning before leaving, and everything was adjusted to my own satisfaction as well as to that of all concerned, so that finally it all turned into a very pleasant experience. The Bible, Science and Health, and the Herold are the sources from which I derive strength before taking up my daily work. I have become a very different woman since turning to Christian Science, and now I can see how much good we receive daily from God, and I also know that God leads and protects us wherever we may be. God is our only help, and on Him we may confidently rely.
