I have received so much help from reading the testimonies...
I have received so much help from reading the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal, that I feel it not only a duty but a privilege to tell what Christian Science has done for me. Stomach trouble kept me in poor health all my life. My mother had passed on from this disorder, when otherwise in good health, and several very good physicians, one a specialist from Chicago, said I would go the same way, but that he could help me. He put me on a very strict diet, and said I should rest half an hour before eating, and at least two hours after. I was, however, healed of this ailment through Christian Science, and it has never returned. I can now eat anything that is set before me, with no bad effects. I can eat a hearty meal and go right to work, or retire and sleep like a child, and get up in the morning without a headache, something I never could do before.
I had a lame back, caused by a strain when I was a young man, and as I grew older it became more troublesome. I could not stoop over without pain, and I walked with a cane. This, also, was entirely overcome in Christian Science. I wore glasses for sixteen years; now I read without them.
I have lived seventy-two years, and my health is better than ever before in my life. My healing was slow, and sometimes I was almost discouraged, but with the help of a faithful practitioner and the study of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I would soon be gaining more rapidly. I read the Sentinel, Journal, and Monitor, and every morning, before beginning the day's work, no matter what I have to do, I go over the Lesson-Sermon. I find it gives me strength for the day, and saves time. I also have the pleasure of helping others.
