[Written for the Sentinel]
A Song of Joy
Ships
are sailing out on the bay;
Lighted by Love they see the way,
And glide along without delay,
Because our Father is ruling the day.
He leads them on through storm and shine,
And carries them gently, this Love divine,
To shores of restful peace and joy,
Where thoughts of earth do not annoy.
Ships are coming and ships are going;
The way the pilot is ever showing,
Leading them quietly all the day,
Out into ocean's great highway.
They travel along, this aspiring throng,
Breasting the waves of sin and wrong,
And they land in safety by God's great might,
Ever rejoicing in Truth and right.
E'en waves of death cannot destroy
The thought which guides these lives with joy;
Eternal Love forever gives,
Eternal Love forever is.
