[Written for the Sentinel]

When Jesus Walked by Galilee

When Jesus walked by Galilee,
'Twas then Truth made me free.
I care not how the years have fled
Since there he gave the hungry bread,
And made the blinded eyes to see,
The deaf to hear, the lame to walk
By far-off Galilee.

When Jesus walked by Galilee,
Love broke the chains for me.
No more the pain, or fevered brow,
Can hold my life in bondage now,
Since there Truth's strong voice bade them flee
Like chaff before the driving winds
Of far-off Galilee.

When Jesus walked by Galilee,
'Twas then eternity;
For there was opened wide the gate,
That I the golden harp might take,
Whose chords sound only harmony—
The perfect note still rings out true
From far-off Galilee.
