In July, 1911, having been pronounced by my physician...
In July, 1911, having been pronounced by my physician dangerously ill from an infection, and feeling certain that I would not live more than a very few days, I was persuaded by my wife to try Christian Science. Upon the arrival of the practitioner, I at once stopped taking the drugs with which my system was thoroughly saturated.
When the doctor learned of the discontinuance of his prescribed treatment, he informed my wife that I could not live forty-eight hours unless I resumed the regular doses of medicine. But with the first treatment in Science, I immediately arose from my bed, and shaved and dressed myself. The first night the usual sleeplessness was changed to peaceful sleep. Within two weeks I had discontinued regular treatments and had resumed my duties at the office. Within thirty days my weight had greatly increased, the ailment which had apparently held me in its grip having reduced my body to a mere skeleton during my illness. Since that time I have been in practically perfect health. I have had no more of the severe headaches, which formerly had been frequent, and several other ills have entirely disappeared.
I am deeply grateful to my wife for persuading me to try Christian Science, and to Mrs. Eddy for her works, which I am confident mean eventually the emancipation of mankind. Especially and immeasurably am I thankful to God for the understanding of Truth and Love that I am more nearly approaching every day.—James H. Last, Colby, Wis.
