The Gazette

Mr.—, will you please tell me, through the columns of the papers, where in Science and Health I may find your statement, made in the Gazette July 9, page 2, in regard to Christian Science?

I went to Science and Health—the text-book of Christian Science, by Mary Baker Eddy—to try to find the statement. These are some of the statements I found there: On page 497: "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." "We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness." "We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Wayshower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death." "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure." Also on page 444 I find:

"Let us be faithful in pointing the way through Christ, as we understand it, but let us also be careful always to 'judge righteous judgment,' and never to condemn rashly." My name is not on any church book.
