When about eight years of age, I began to wonder why the works of Christ Jesus and his disciples were not brought out now, as well as in the Master's time; but when I questioned others, I generally got the answer that these works were for Jesus' time only, and we could not understand them. Nevertheless, the desire to know more followed me all my earlier years.

After having been in America for some years, I paid a visit to Sweden, my native country, about nineteen years ago. In what seemed a very strange way, through this visit, and on my return to Chicago, I was for the first time brought in contact with a Christian Scientist. In my first conversation with the Scientist, when asking some questions concerning a certain experience, I was answered by being told of a demonstration in Science, and it was added that it was brought about through the understanding of God. I knew instantly that what I needed was an understanding of Truth, and I knew I had now found what had been lacking all these years. In a small way I began to look into Christian Science and investigate; but when we are bidden to the feast, the excuse is ready, and mine was, that because of my slight knowledge of English I could not understand this teaching. But Christian Science never left me; it was in my thought at all times and under all circumstances, with a growing desire to know more.

It was eighteen years ago that I began the study of Christian Science. The next Sunday after getting a copy of Science and Health, I attended services in the Auditorium in Chicago, and the glorious revelation that came to me when the Lord's Prayer with the spiritual interpretation was read, can never be expressed in words. From childhood I could never pray; but the desire for a better standard of living was uppermost in my thought. At first I did not think anything about the healing, for I did not come to Christian Science for physical benefit, but with a heart sick; discouraged through the world's lack, I was hungering and thirsting after righteousness. I had been subject to severe headaches since childhood, also rheumatism, but as I continued my study I began to apply the truth and was entirely healed; and I have been able to apply Christian Science to all the conditions of human experience.
