It is with deep gratitude to God, and also thankfulness to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I testify to the many blessings which Christian Science has brought me. Through the earnest study of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," a new life was opened up to me, and these words of Paul to the Corinthians became a living reality to me: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." I had been self-willed and disobedient all my life, but while studying Mrs. Eddy's works, especially her address on Obedience (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 116), there dawned upon my consciousness a new understanding, and a longing to be obedient which I had not known before.
Since that time I have never had the old desire to do my own will in spite of everything and every one. With the breaking of this bondage which had so long held me, came greater freedom and harmony, both physically and mentally. Christian Science has enabled me to pass calmly through experiences which would have overcome me but for the sustaining power of Truth. I well know that it has saved me from many discordant and inharmonious conditions. It has also healed members of my family of appendicitis, pneumonia, the tobacco and liquor habit, yearly attacks of inflammation of the bowels, catarrh, serious eye trouble, and many other ills to which flesh in heir.
I am indeed grateful for the physical healing, but even more thankful for the awakening to truer, purer thinking and living, and the understanding which has made it possible to help others. I am grateful to all who have helped me on the way, also for all our Christian Science publications, and for every loyal worker for the cause.
