In a recent issue Dr. Hale indulged in a criticism of Christian Science. Misstatements of the truth of Christian Science expressed through a public speaker cannot, however, thwart its progress or annual the proofs of its divine mission.

The accusations of our critic against Christian Science are allied with those of the Pharisee against Christ Jesus and his works, and to which Jesus replied, "And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? . . . But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you." Our critic would have his hearers believe that it is an offense against God to heal the afflictions of suffering humanity through spiritual means. The ministry of the Master was one of healing, yet his work was void of material or physical means. From the Scriptures we learn that because he spoke with authority it was only necessary for him in healing the afflicted to say, "Stretch forth thine hand;" "Take up thy bed, and walk;" "Lazarus, come forth;" "Young man, I say unto you, Arise." The Scriptural record of his work shows it was metaphysical, and through it man's unity with God was revealed. The indisputable fact of spiritual existence as revealed through Christian Science is today emancipating mankind from the bondage of materialism, in fulfilment of the great Teacher's declaration, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." Hence we have Scriptural authority for declaring that Christian Science is the word of God demonstrated. It proves the divinity and power of His law, which when understood, corrects the human misapprenhension of existence.
