In reporting the work of Evangelist Wilson, this gentleman...

The Sun

In reporting the work of Evangelist Wilson, this gentleman is quoted as saying, among other things, that Christian Science is "neither Christian Science." This is a hackneyed statement, worn out and frayed by much use among those critics, religious and otherwise, who are determined upon the condemnation of Christian Science.

The views of Christianity held by this particular critic may not fully agree with the teachings of Christian Science, but this is probably due to the fact that his views do not exactly accord with the teachings of Christ. Would any better evidence of this be asked than his own repudiation of the Christ method of healing disease? A study of the words and works of the Master reveals the healing means that Christians should use in season and out of season. No warrant can there be found for the conclusion of our critic that "we must use natural [material] means and common [carnal, as distinguished from spiritual] sense" to heal the sick.

The fifty years in which the works of spiritual healing have been done through Christian Science as demanded by Jesus of his followers, proves the spiritual method of healing to be the true method in this age quite as much as it was in the first century. Results are seen in the ever increasing thousands who testify to having been restored in mind and body as a consequence of the daily reliance upon God which Christian Science inculcates. Christian Science demonstrates that it is Christian by following the teachings and precepts of Christ Jesus, and in that the Christ teaching is provable through Christian Science, it is demonstrably scientific. It is science in that it reveals a knowledge of the truth, the truth that Jesus said "shall make you free." There is an ever increasing desire on the part of Christian Scientists to become more Christlike, and there is a certain degree of attainment along this line. Christian Scientists are notably better than they were before they embraced the teaching of Christian Science. They are earnestly striving to perform their part in bringing to light what is good and true in the world, and to establish the kingdom of God in the hearts of men, that His will may be done "in earth, as it is in heaven."
