After the birth of our little son in 1905 I seemed unable to regain my strength, and was ailing more or less until two and a half years ago, when my condition was such that my husband insisted on an examination. We went to Denver for that purpose, and after the examination the physician declared there was a growth which could be removed only by an operation.

I had been in touch with Christian Science for quite a while without being able to understand its teachings. Although extremely nervous at this time, and fearing that death would soon take me from my loved ones, I felt that Christian Science was my only hope, so I did not submit to an operation, and instead of returning to our mountain home, we decided to spend the winter in Boulder, that I might be near a practitioner. Although I felt better after the first treatment, the final demonstration was not made till several months later. There were times when the pain was so severe that I thought it impossible to bear any more, but surely "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

I was able to return home, after an absence of four and one half months, completely healed. All outward signs of the disorder have long since disappeared, and I am strong and well. I feel truly thankful to God, and it is my earnest desire to gain more understanding of the teachings of Christian Science, so as to be better able to reflect divine Life, Truth, and Love to those I meet.
