In the hope of doing good to some poor sufferer, I send...
In the hope of doing good to some poor sufferer, I send this message, in thankfulness to God, to our blessed Redeemer, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the healing truth of Christian Science, which found me seven years ago a total physical wreck, according to the material senses. I had for years consulted the best physicians, and one of them told me that the only hope for me was an operation, but that my condition was too weak for such an ordeal. In my distress I consulted another doctor, who was willing to perform this operation at once, thinking that I might find some relief; but the operation left me worse than before. My friends openly stated that my days were numbered and waited for me to pass on.
At this time Christian Science was brought to my notice, and I began to investigate it at once, although with little hope. My healing was very slow, but today I am a perfectly well woman. The chief trouble, which was of ten years' standing, and which was said to be the result of childbirth, has entirely disappeared. I can truthfully say that I owe my life to Christian Science. It has lifted me from a sense of death to life, from that of sickness to health, from sorrow to joy, and from darkness to light.
Another demonstration of Truth's power, which saved my daughter as well as a laundress, was in their rescue from the effects of escaping gas. When I went into the laundry, the laundress had fainted. Trying to find out what was the cause of this, I myself began to succumb, and it was the same with my daughter, who tried to come to our rescue. Dragging myself to the telephone, I called up a Christian Science practitioner, who said she would declare the truth for us at once. Meanwhile, though we were constantly declaring the truth, the condition seemed not much better, and I was thinking of sending for an ambulance to take the laundress to the hospital; but I telephoned again to the practitioner, and she told me to turn off all gas and open all the windows. Up to this time we had not known what had caused all the trouble, but the practitioner discerned the cause, and came to our home to help us. She said that as this was a case of emergency, she would declare the truth for the laundress. She did so, and in about an hour the woman was able to go home alone. We all gradually recovered, and the next day were quite well.
