I seem unable adequately to express my gratitude to God...
I seem unable adequately to express my gratitude to God that through Mrs. Eddy's teaching it is possible for us to gain an understanding which enables us to rise above sin, disease, and their inharmonious conditions. Years ago I was very ill, and the physician advised me to submit to a dangerous operation; but through Christian Science treatment my health improved within a few weeks, and it thus became possible for me to attend to my household duties, and even to do some work at the sewing-machine. Three months later a healthy little girl was born to us. Our children have grown up in Science, and have learned from infancy to demonstrate the power of divine Love. We are in a to apply the divine Principle in our daily life, and of this I had a beautiful proof some time ago, for our eldest daughter was about to take an examination which seemed difficult to her, and she was afraid that she would not do as well as her schoolmates. I explained to her that divine intelligence inspires those who seek its aid, and that God would help her. A few days later she came home radiant with joy, and told me that her paper was found to be the best in the whole class. The child herself is filled with joy to have learned how to overcome the sense of fear.
A few weeks ago she became afflicted with boils all over her body. The school physician, to whose examination she had to submit, finally declared that it was probably a nervous trouble. The boils caused much irritation and kept her from sleeping at night. After I had treated her for some time to the best of my knowledge, I felt that I could not cope with the case successfully, so we asked a practitioner for help, and it was wonderful to witness the quick destruction of the error. The child was able to sleep after the first night, and within a few days the trouble had completely disappeared, which made us very happy. Christian Science has become a comfort, a strength, and a blessing to me and my family.—Luise Muth, Dresden, Germany.
