Utah.—A Christian Science service similar to the regular Sunday service is held every second week at the Utah state prison, to which all the male prisoners are invited but attendance at which is entirely optional. The number attending these services varies from sixteen up to twenty-five or thirty. One yearly subscription to the Journal and one to the Sentinel are sent regularly, and there are two yearly subscriptions to the Monitor. I am also informed that eighteen copies of the Quarterly are sent to the penitentiary each quarter. A most interesting feature of this work is the extreme courtesy with which our people are treated by the prison officials and the guards. In addition to the above subscriptions, every week a large bundle of Sentinels, Monitors, and Journals is distributed among the men and women inmates.
