THE LECTURES
Virgil O. Strickler delivered a lecture on Christian Science to a large and appreciative audience. Judge John Tyler Campbell, late minister to China, was the chairman, and introduced the speaker in the following words:—
It is my pleasing duty to present to you this evening one who will give you an authentic and instructive exposition of the simple yet profound truths which are dear to the hearts of all. Christian Science is as old as Christianity. It is the message of the Saviour of the world, to heal the sick of all manner of diseases. Its teachings and practises encourage the despondent, comfort the mourner, and fill the heart with joy and happiness. Upon its banner are emblazoned the words: "On earth peace, good will toward men," and proclaiming the doctrine of Love, it has extended its mission over the civilized world, yet it goes not forth to conquer as an army with banners. Small at the beginning, it has extended its loving ministry to millions of human beings.—Correspondence.
