In telling of what Christian Science has done for me, I...
In telling of what Christian Science has done for me, I feel impelled by a sense of love and gratitude. I had been acquainted with the results of the teachings of Christian Science for a good many years, when two years ago it became my privilege to experience the omnipotence of divine Truth in my own case. Having lost both my parents within a comparatively short time, I lapsed into a state of mental and physical depression; fear and a sense of being left alone had taken hold of me. Besides, there were rather alarming indications of a throat trouble (according to a physician's opinion), so that an operation would have had to be resorted to in order to check the disease. To this were added great nervousness, weak heart action, and sleeplessness. Christian Science inspired me with confidence, however, and I asked for help, whereupon treatment was taken up with much kindness.
At first the trouble apparently kept increasing, the heart action especially, and the throat trouble also became aggravated. But in the moment of greatest distress I experienced the power of Truth, and gradually the realization of the ever-presence of divine Truth and Love became a staff on which I could lean, and a weapon which enabled me to defend myself against all evil influences of mortal thinking, manifesting themselves through the various symptoms of disease. Christian Science has also proved a great help along business lines, for I gradually learned to rely on the omnipotence of God, good, and to recognize God, Spirit, as the source of all supply. I saw finally that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
I am grateful to God, and thankful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for Christian Science, for the truth which has supported, strengthened, and guided me when its help was greatly needed.
