I am truly grateful to God for what Christian Science has...
I am truly grateful to God for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. In October, 1910, my little daughter, three years old, was suddenly taken very ill with fever and lameness in her limbs. I first tried to meet the ailment with what little understanding I had of Christian Science, but as she seemed to grow worse, I felt that there was no time to lose, so I called a practitioner, and he gave her absent treatment. I could not touch her anywhere but what she cried for pain. She could not even bend her knees or her ankles, and did not eat anything. This started on Tuesday morning, and the first change I noticed was that the fever left her, but otherwise she had great pain. On Thursday morning she was still a very sick child, but that afternoon she seemed to rest better, and on Friday morning she asked for something to eat. She enjoyed her breakfast, and by evening she sat at the dinner table and could bend her knees, but she could not stand or walk. By Saturday morning she asked me to dress her, and she tried to walk by holding on to chairs. By evening, however, she walked alone, and on Sunday morning she walked up-stairs without any assistance. She was perfectly healed. She had seven absent treatments and one present treatment, but not a drop of medicine was used. There has been no return of the sickness, which would no doubt have been pronounced infantile paralysis.
Words cannot tell of the joy in our home when our child could walk again, and all this took place in less than a week! This is only one of the healings in our family, for I could not write all that Christian Science has done for us. I pray that I may have more understanding and more trust in God, whom I have proven to be an ever-present help in time of trouble, when we trust in Him and know that Truth is the only power. I am grateful with all my heart to God, and also thankful to Mrs. Eddy.
