If I should be asked what was the greatest thing that had...
If I should be asked what was the greatest thing that had ever come into my life, I would immediately answer, Christian Science. Ever since I can remember, I had felt that I was living in vain; but if I could only feel that I was doing some good in the world, that would make me happy, I would be satisfied. I held this ideal continually, until February, 1909, when I was healed through Christian Science. I knew at once that this religion was what I had been looking for, and consequently began to study and live the truth so far as I understood it, until it enabled me to overcome fear, worry, impatience, and many other discords.
It is now over three years since I began the study of Christian Science, during which time I have used no other remedy than the truth, and it has never failed me. I was healed of extreme nervousness, due to the effects of an operation, and also, through study of the Christian Science text-book, of a female complaint from which I had suffered for over twelve years. I have had many more proofs of God's power to heal, one of which I will mention. My daughter had been troubled with a throat difficulty since she was three years old, and the attacks became more frequent and severe, until the physician advised an operation. This I refused to have done, so after I took up Christian Science I began to treat her, with the result that she has had only a few slight attacks, which have been quickly overcome.
For all these physical healings I am most grateful, since if it had not been for the urgent need of physical healing, I perhaps would not be enjoying the precious benefits of Christian Science today. But more than all else do I understanding which I have gained of God and of man as His sinless child, and I shall never cease to be grateful to the dear friends who first brought Christian Science to my attention. I am so glad that I have never at any time entertained a wrong thought of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, but am learning to love her more and more, as I understand her teachings better. I love Christian Science because it has taught me what God is and where to find Him. It has also taught me man's relation to Him, which is more to me than all else; and I want my life to attest my gratitude to our beloved Leader.
